People & Cultures

Known as one of the first multi-cultural societies in North America, you’ll find culture is alive and well here. Aboriginal, Gaelic, and Acadian ancestries run deep in our communities, alive in the languages, stories, art, dances, cuisines, and music that showcase our cultural heritage.

Tap your toes to fiddle tunes at a Ceilidh. See authentic Acadian crafts at Les Trois Pignons. Connect yourself to the heartbeat of Mother Earth and take a piece of Mi’kmaw culture home with you at a drum making workshop. Unama’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. Île Royale, a haven and fortress for French settlers. The Celtic Heart of North America. Cape Breton Island is many things to different people, but we just like to call it home.
