What to Pack for Each Season

Cape Breton’s weather can change quickly, so packing smart is key. In spring and fall, bring layers, including a waterproof jacket, warm sweaters and sturdy footwear for exploring. Summer calls for light clothing, sun protection, comfortable walking shoes and a light rain jacket just in case.

In winter, pack warm, insulated clothing, gloves, a hat and waterproof boots—especially if you plan to enjoy outdoor activities like snowshoeing or skiing.

No matter the season, dressing in layers and being ready for sun, wind or rain will help you stay comfortable while exploring the Island.
