We followed Outdoor Adventure Ambassadors Davey and Sky, along with their dogs Indie and Tovi, to build this dog-friendly Waterfall Season planning guide.

- What should I pack? Waterproof hikers, bug spray and towels for the pups are essential.

Day 1: The South Coast and St. Peters
Your journey begins with a blend of gentle woodland hikes and powerful river views that set a relaxed yet adventurous tone for the trip. You will spend the morning exploring shale-carved falls before settling into the historic charm of St. Peters for a cozy evening by the water.
- The Hike: Embree’s Brook Falls is located within the Port Hawkesbury Community Trail system which features 10 km of woodland paths.
- The Sights: Grand River Falls is a great spot to watch for eagles and gaspereau fish navigating the salmon ladder.
- Where to Stay: Pepperell Place B&B is a pet-friendly retreat in St. Peters.
- Fuel Up: Grab a coffee and incredible homemade snacks at The Farmer’s Pantry.

Day 2: Baddeck to North River
This day is all about immersion in the deep woods and the refreshing spray of hidden cascades. The pace is steady and rewarding, ending with the warm hospitality of a wilderness cabin where wood fired pizza and forest sounds create a true sense of escape.
- The Hike: Uisge Ban Falls is a 1.5 hour casual walk through an Acadian forest.
- The Sights: Lower North River Falls offers forested tranquility perfect for a picnic.
- Where to Stay: River Nest Wilderness Cabins lets you experience Angelo and Danyelle’s famous pizza nights.
- Fuel Up: Get some amazing sandwiches and treats from the Herring Choker Deli.

Day 3: Sydney and The Mira
Transition from urban park convenience to the mysterious beauty of rugged ravines steeped in local folklore. The feeling is one of discovery and contrast, balanced by a relaxing evening at a riverfront cottage and a locally inspired dinner with live music.
- The Hike: Greenlink Rotary Trail Waterfall features a stone dam, an off-leash dog park and even a disc golf course!
- The Sights: Devil’s Hill Falls is a quick hike to find a hidden, verdant gem of a waterfall.
- Where to Stay: Mira Riverfront Getaway offers cottages with hot tubs, fireplaces and the most relaxing vibes.
- Fuel Up: Try the pot pies at Gaslight Café and enjoy dinner and live music at Kiju’s Restaurant.



Day 4: Highland Gems
The final stretch takes you into the highlands for a hidden gem trek that feels like a private celebration of the spring season. You will wrap up the adventure with a lively visit to a local craft brewery where burgers and cold brews provide the perfect finish to a week on the road.
- The Hike: Gairloch Mountain Falls is a rewarding trek where you journey into, what feels like, a magical world of waterfalls, mossy rocks and towering trees.
- The Sights: Relax with the locals at Big Spruce Brewing.
- Fuel Up: Rose’s Smash Burgers is located right on site at Big Spruce.
