About

John B. Main is a Halifax-based blues and rockabilly musician. Born in Lenoir, North Carolina, the pianist, guitarist, and vocalist grew up in Halifax listening to the music of Eric Clapton, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Dire Straits, Booker T. & the M.G.s, and The Blues Brothers.

As a teenager, he discovered Joe Murphy and the Water Street Blues Band, another Halifax-based blues band, which changed the trajectory of his life. He knew that blues was his true musical love. Over the next few years, he discovered a love of rockabilly and rock’n’roll music as well, listening to artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, and, of course, Elvis Presley.
Today, John plays with his own band and in other bands. The most notable of these bands are Joe Murphy and the Water Street Blues Band and the classic country band, Michelle Mock and the Moccasins. He has two albums available to buy. His most recent one, "Blues on Main Street," is available on CD and on streaming platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify. His first album, "I’ve Got The Blues," is only available on CD.
John will be joined onstage by Cape Breton guitarist Curtis Matheson.
