Celebrating Canada’s Day of Music
D-Rock Entertainment is excited to announce the return of the D-Rock Youth Sessions for Vol. 2 — and this time, we’re celebrating alongside Canada’s Day of Music!
On Saturday, September 26, Daniel’s Taphouse will once again become a stage for some incredible young talent, bringing together emerging artists for an evening that is all about giving the next generation an opportunity to perform, be heard, build experience — and get paid for their talent.
Following the packed house and incredible response to our first Youth Sessions, we knew this couldn’t be a one-time thing.
So we’re doing it again.
MEET THE VOL. 2
ARTISTS
ALORA ELLS
Coming to us from Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley, 16-year-old singer-songwriter Alora Ells is already making waves with her strong voice, musicality and confident stage presence. Her music blends the emotional honesty of folk with country storytelling, with original songs exploring youth, resilience, love and family.
Alora has already appeared at youth showcases during Nova Scotia Music Week and Halifax Urban Folk Fest, performed at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival and Trunk 7 Festival, opened for Adam Baldwin and Pillowfite, and recently took part in NewVoices at the deCoste Performing Arts Centre.
FRIANE GOUTHRO
At just 14 years old, Glace Bay’s Friane Gouthro is a singer, actress and musician whose performances have already taken her from Cape Breton stages to events across Canada and the Philippines. Proud of her Filipina-Canadian roots, Friane brings a powerful stage presence, vibrant personality and genuine love of music and theatre to everything she does.
Her theatre credits include Annie The Musical, Frozen: The Musical and Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. with the Savoy Theatre, along with performances with Highland Arts Theatre and Robyn Cathcart. She continues developing her talents through vocal and musical-theatre training while also studying ukulele, piano and violin.
TALON MACPHERSON
At 17, Talon MacPherson is a performer and artist with a love for music, acting and live performance. She has spent several years developing her craft through school productions, musicals and other live events, combining her interests in singing, acting and storytelling.
With a naturally deeper singing voice, Talon draws inspiration from a wonderfully diverse group of artists including Amy Winehouse, Patsy Cline and Michael Bublé. She especially enjoys the storytelling side of performance — using music, acting, costumes and makeup to bring a character or song to life on stage.
VENTURA
And yes — we have a band joining the lineup! VENTURA will bring another dimension to the Youth Sessions Vol. 2 stage. We’ll have much more to share about them soon.
