Off the beaten path, our quiet, centrally located Bed and Breakfast is the perfect place to stay while you explore the beauty of Cape Breton. Our farm 100 acres of pasture, meadow and woods is nestled in the Bras dOr Lake Biosphere Reserve, a region that was designated by UNESCO in 2011 for its unique history and promotion of sustainable life styles.
Located in Kempt Head, 22 kilometres off the Trans Canada Highway 105, our farm boasts a stunning view of the beautiful Bras dOr Lake (our inland sea), the Barra Strait and Iona, Beinn Bhreagh (the final resting place of Alexander Graham Bell), and Baddeck (gateway to the world-famous Cabot Trail).
Relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of our Bed and Breakfast while you take in the fabulous sunsets. Meet the livestock we have horses, llamas, sheep and a variety of rare-breed chickens and turkeys. If youre feeling a bit more energetic, you can hop on a bicycle and explore the neighbourhood or wander one of our trails. We invite you to join us in the evening for conversation and tea (or your own stronger brew).
We offer two cozy rooms on the upper floor that have queen-size beds and share a 4-piece bathroom. The Eagle Room overlooks the farm and the Whale Room has an amazing view of the Bras dOr Lake. The communal sitting room, TV room and eat-in kitchen are on the main floor.
We accept payment in cash or by e-transfer; sorry, no credit cards.
We are approximately 25 minutes from the Englishtown Ferry, 30 minutes from the Gaelic College, 40 minutes from the Newfoundland Ferries, 45 minutes from Sydney, 45 minutes from Baddeck, and 90 minutes from the Fortress of Louisbourg.
We admit it, its a bit of a drive to get here, but we think its worth it and were pretty sure you will too!
