Winter Gems – Scenic Seascapes and Sushi in Sydney and Louisbourg

If you are staying in Sydney for the night and you are looking for a quick escape to nature, history, and rugged coastal views then the 30 minute trip to Louisbourg is a great plan for your afternoon.

The Trails of Louisbourg

Upon arriving in the quaint village of Louisbourg, the first stop you should make is the Old Town Trail. This trail is an easy 2.25km walk located on Louisbourg harbour with views of the Fortress of Louisbourg across the bay. History buffs can enjoy reading the informative signs along the trail.

Next head on over to the Louisbourg Lighthouse Trail located across the harbour from the fortress. This trail is perfect if you are looking to be mesmerized by ocean views and crashing waves. This trail is a 2km loop with an option to take a more challenging hike off the end. Be prepared for beautiful seascapes and if you do this hike later in the day, you could be lucky enough to encounter a beautiful sunset overlooking the bay and the lighthouse.

*Tips*

Both of these trails would make for awesome snowshoeing if you can catch a foot or two of fresh powder! Also if you have your pups with you they are allowed on the trails if on leashes.

Naru

After an afternoon spent outdoors in the chilly winter air, make your way to Naru an authentic Japanese restaurant located in downtown Sydney. This is the perfect spot to warm up with a delicious and comforting bowl of ramen. Naru has an amazing assortment of food for every taste including tempura, sushi rolls, and gyozas to name a few. Make sure you give yourself a lot of time to view the menu. If you aren't the biggest fan of meat, no worries, they have lots of vegetarian options. The vegetarian bakudan (tempura sweet potato sushi roll) is very oishii! (tasty)

Cambridge Suites & Hotel

End your day with a check in at the Cambridge Suites & Hotel in downtown Sydney. This highly-rated hotel overlooks Sydney harbour and the sunset out the hotel room window was beautiful. Its convenient location is great whether you prefer a cozy night in, a stroll along the waterfront, or to continue your night with drinks and live music at the many spots within walking distance. In the morning be sure to check out the continental breakfast buffet!

This was the best way to spend a winter day if you are short on time but looking to mix a little nature with some city vibes.
