ELYSE AERYN is picking up speed with her nostalgic brand of alt-country/rock, wrapping up a wild 2024 as Music Nova Scotia’s Entertainer of the Year. Riding fast on the momentum of her driving rhythms and evocative songs, Aeryn left behind a career as an engineer to follow her calling as an artist that has quickly built an impressive profile by sharing stages with Canadian icons Blue Rodeo, Amanda Marshall, and Matt Anderson.
AMANDA RHEAUME’s rootsy, guitar-driven ballads introduce crucial dimensions to the world of Heartland Rock. In a genre characterized by anthems of underdogs, assumptions and unfair advantages, Rheaume’s sound and story crucially and radically expand the boundaries, geographic and cultural, to make space for new perspectives on resistance and resilience. A Citizen of the Métis Nation, and an active and proud member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, Rheaume’s music is indeed from the heart, and the land.
Makin’ Waves, July 3-31, is presented by Sydney Credit Union and produced by the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. These concerts are made possible by the Government of Nova Scotia, Government of Canada, and festival partners Protocase and Cape Breton Beverages.
