David Doucette is an award-winning novelist and musician who grew up in Ingonish Beach and began composing and performing music at an early age. Doucette is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier and Saint Mary’s Universities, where he pursued Literature Studies and Linguistics. He has lived in Asia, South America and the Middle East, has published four novels, and is winner of the Dartmouth Book Award for Best Atlantic Canadian Fiction. Doucette works as a novelist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, film composer and screenplay writer and is owner of Smokey Studios, a film and music production company set in the Highlands of Cape Breton Island. At present, he is working on the film production of an adaptation of his novel, North of Smokey, as well as building a cinema, and doing the odd musical performance.
