About

This October, guests will be invited to take a peek behind the red curtain and experience the Savoy Theatre like never before. The Savoy Unmasked is an immersive gala event that allows patrons to explore the hidden corners of Cape Breton’s most iconic stage, including backstage areas, dressing rooms, costume closets, and more. Ominously lit and tinged with mystery, this elegant evening will blend theatrical nostalgia with ghostly charm.
Throughout the venue, guests will encounter a few characters or perhaps a ghostly figure while enjoying food and drink offerings at key points during their self-guided experience. On stage before the performance, guests can enjoy a photo opportunity with a display of light costumes and props from Savoy’s collection with the famous red curtain as the backdrop. The evening culminates in a signature Main Stage concert featuring two sets of musical highlights from beloved Savoy-produced shows like Come From Away, Annie, Mamma Mia!, Dear Rita, Jersey Boys, and the highly-anticipated upcoming production of Frozen. The Main Stage show will also include Savoy ghostly readings from various performers. With a nod to the theatre’s history and ghostly lore, the host will maintain an atmosphere of moody elegance throughout the night.
This event marks the beginning of a two-year countdown to the Savoy Theatre’s 100th anniversary in 2027. With the help of community, volunteers, and loyal supporters, Savoy Unmasked will set the tone for a once-in-a-century celebration of storytelling, talent, and local pride. The actors refuse to stay backstage, and the ghost refuses to stay hidden…this is the Savoy Unmasked.
