Margaree Highland Games
Margarees
About
A two-day festival showcasing food, music, athletics, and fun! Since its foundation in 2012, the Margaree Highland Games (MHG) has become a pillar event for Cape Breton Island. Attracting locals and visitors alike, this event truly offers something for everyone – at an affordable price. The Games kick off Saturday with a $500 jackpot bingo, traditional Acadian fricot supper, and a family square dance. Sunday offers a full day of activities with men, women, and junior athletes competing in seven traditional heavy events, with Highland Dancing, bagpiping, horse and wagon rides, Kid Zone, silent auction, bbq, beer garden, and MUCH more! This year, we are excited to welcome an athlete from Bressuire France to MHG. He will compete against some of Canada’s best throwers – right here in downtown East Margaree!
