Pianist and composer Swetlana Annatoli presents INNER LIGHT at Sacred Heart Downtown in Sydney – a concert of her original piano compositions in a distinctive atmosphere of light.

What can emerge when we follow an inner impulse without already knowing where it will go?

For Swetlana, this idea is closely connected to the way her own compositions came into being. What began as free improvisation at the piano – following musical impulses without knowing what might come next – gradually developed into her own musical language and, ultimately, her compositions.

This special atmosphere creates a moment to pause and become aware what the music evokes.

At the heart of the concert is an experience that has become an essential part of Swetlana’s artistic path: giving an inner impulse the freedom to emerge and remaining open to where it may lead.

After the concert, audience members will have an opportunity to experience this idea for themselves. Those who wish are invited to join Swetlana at the piano for free improvisation. No musical experience is required.

Swetlana Annatoli is a German-Canadian pianist and composer based in Cape Breton. Her career has included international performances as well as concert, recording and television projects. Her original piano compositions are featured on her solo album INNERE STIMME (INNER VOICE)
