Tucked away at the base of MacKenzie Mountain, Fishing Cove is Cape Breton Highlands National Park’s only designated wilderness camping area where adventure meets serenity. After a scenic 6 km (one-way) hike, you’ll arrive at a secluded cove where grassy hillsides meet a cobblestone beach and river mouth.

With 8 unserviced sites available by reservation from mid-May to the end of October, this backcountry escape invites you to disconnect and immerse yourself in nature’s rhythm.
Fishing Cove backcountry camping is now available for online reservations through the Parks Canada Reservation System! Plan ahead and secure your site before you arrive for a worry-free wilderness experience.
Remember to register for a backcountry permit at the Chéticamp or Ingonish Visitor Centres, pack in and pack out all gear and waste, bring a camp stove (no open fires), and carry your own drinking water. Potable water and garbage facilities are not available on site.

Rating: Difficult. Longer trail with steep sections, suitable for experienced hikers who are prepared with proper equipment and water.
