About

Donair: The Musical is set in the 1970s in the first donair shop in Sydney, Nova Scotia and deals with family dynamics, business opportunities, a love interest, and a healthy dose of donair humour; with ten original songs by Sydney singer/songwriter and performer, Duncan Wells and story by local writer and playwright, Paul MacDougall.

The show tells how the donair was first conceived of in Halifax, then soon immigrated to Cape Breton.
Donair: The Musical isn’t a historical telling of the invention of the donair, but more a heartfelt homage to a truly Nova Scotia food and the success of small family-run businesses in our province.
Directed by Carol Anne Gillis with musical direction by Adam Young and a cast of talented local actors and musicians.
