Celtic Colours International Festival is a celebration of music and culture that takes place each October all over Cape Breton Island. Set against the backdrop of brilliant autumn colours, the nine-day festival welcomes musicians from Celtic regions around the world, including Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and Brittany, as well as artists from Cape Breton’s vibrant communities.

With concerts held in communities all over the Island, audiences can enjoy unforgettable performances in settings that reflect the character and culture of the region. From historic churches and community halls to theatres and arenas, each venue offers a unique experience. These concerts feature both traditional and contemporary Celtic-based music, and often spark collaborations between local and visiting artists.

Celtic Colours is more than a music festival. It is a cultural experience. Each day offers dozens of community events, including square dances, artisan demonstrations, guided hikes, storytelling sessions, and traditional meals. These gatherings are hosted by local volunteers and provide an authentic look at Cape Breton’s welcoming spirit and strong sense of place.

What makes Celtic Colours truly special is how it weaves music and culture into the everyday life of the Island. It is a festival that honours the past while inspiring the future. Whether you are a devoted fan of traditional music or discovering it for the first time, you will find something to enjoy. The nightly Festival Club invites artists to play in a relaxed setting and often becomes the place where unforgettable moments happen.

The 30th Celtic Colours International Festival is scheduled for October 9-17, 2026.
