About

Join us for an engaging artist talk with Ronald Williams as he shares the stories, memories, and lived experiences behind his exhibition, Ground Truthing. Drawing from a lifetime spent working in forests, protected landscapes, and rural communities across Canada, Williams reflects on the idea of “ground truthing” not only as a process of verifying the land, but also of revisiting personal history to uncover deeper truths.

Through colorful, expressive paintings created with salvaged materials and Tremclad rust paint, his work explores landscape, memory, mythology, and the magic found in everyday life. Self-taught and deeply connected to the geography of Cape Breton and beyond, Williams offers a unique perspective on storytelling through art, place, and experience.
