About
Port Hood Beach is a sandy and well protected beach that overlooks Port Hood Island and a rock breakwater. The water is calm and very shallow in places due to sandbars, which allows it to heat up early in the season and stay warm – summer temperatures vary between 22 and 24C.
During July and August, this is the only supervised beach with lifeguards in the community. The supervised swimming area, marked by red and yellow flags, begins on the right side of the breakwater and extends about 100 metres to the right of the lifeguard chair.
Beach amenities include: washrooms, showers, and a canteen.
Mobi mats were installed on the sandy beach from the boardwalk to help beachgoers with wheelchairs and other mobility needs to access and enjoy the beach.
