Celtic Shores Coastal Trail F.A.Q.
The Celtic Shores Coastal Trail is a beautiful 92km stretch that explores the best of Canada's Musical Coast. Experience the trail at your own pace and enjoy the stunning views that come with this ocean-side adventure. Below, we answer the most commonly asked questions regarding the trail and towns along the way.

1. How long is the Trail, and does it have to be completed in one day?
The 92-km Celtic Shores Coastal Trail stretches from Port Hastings to Inverness, along the West coast of the beautiful Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, otherwise known as Canada’s Musical Coast. The trail can be broken down into several day trips or completed within one-two days. The rate that your travel is truly up to you and what you are comfortable with.

2. If I drive my car to the trailhead, how do I get back after I complete the entire trail?
There are several trailheads located conveniently along the main highway, Route 19. You can choose to ride back to your vehicle at your own pace and hop on the trail at the next trailhead or plan ahead by arranging transportation with Strait Area Transit-dial a ride service. Arrangements must be made 24 hours in advance.

3. Are cyclists the only ones allowed on the trail?
This coastal trail system is extremely accessible and allows for all sorts of experiences! In the spring, summer, and fall you can expect to see walkers, families with strollers, bikers, hikers, runners, quad bikers, and even horseback riders. In the wintertime, you’ll find cross-country skiers and snowmobilers traveling along the beautiful nature trail.

4. Does the Trail have bathrooms along the way?
While there are no bathrooms along the trail, there are bathrooms in each town within close proximity to the trail. Along the trail route, you will find small towns such as Creignish, Judique, Port Hood, Mabou, and Inverness. Travelers are encouraged to plan their route so they aim for one of these towns if they are in need of a rest or place to recharge.

5. Can I rent bikes along the Trail?
Yes, you can rent bikes along the Celtic Shores Coastal Trail. Bikes can be rented from Mikes's E-Bikes and Inverness Adventures E-Bike Rentals Both of these locations can be either the beginning or end of the Celtic Shores Coastal Trail depending on which way you wish to travel. If you are staying anywhere along the Celtic Shores Coastal Trail don't forget to check with the owner or manager of your accommodation, many include bikes within their stay.
