Cape Smokey is pumped to announce our FREE Canada Day show. We are putting a casting call out to any and all musical acts in the High Schools of Cape Breton. Send us a video submission and earn a spot on the show. Come showcase your talents at one of the coolest venues on the island. Not only will you gain valuable experience performing onstage, a winner will be chosen by a panel of impartial judges and will receive a $1000 bursary to help you pursue a career in the industry. But that’s not all! Cape Smokey is excited to announce that we are now working in partnership with LAKEWIND SOUND STUDIOS, the premier recording studio in Atlantic Canada for our SMOKEY SESSIONS: RISING STARS concert, July 1, 2024. As originally advertised, we will have a contest for the High School musicians of Cape Breton, the prize being a $1,000 bursary. Our partnership with LAKEWIND SOUND STUDIOS now allows us to add an exciting new category to the event for all musicians ages 25 and under. The winner will have the opportunity to record a completed single at LAKEWIND SOUND STUDIOS and we will help launch the recording on all streaming channels! As an added bonus, the winners of both categories will have the opportunity to perform at our Labour Day show on August 31, 2024, The Smokey Sessions: Summer’s End Bash featuring Elyse Aeryn & Money Doll, Jesse Cox Trio, and Broken Road. Cape Smokey and LAKEWIND SOUND STUDIOS are excited to offer these wonderful opportunities to the young musicians of our island. The SMOKEY SESSIONS: RISING STARS concert is a free CANADA DAY event for all to enjoy, so come out and enjoy some of the finest young talent Cape Breton has to offer. Send all video submissions and enquiries to [email protected] *Please note: you will need to bring a blanket or your own chairs (we recommend beach chairs that are low to the ground since you will be sitting on the sloped ski hill).
