The name “The Baddeck Gathering” Ceilidh came from a popular fiddle tune of the same name that was recorded by many Cape Breton musicians including Winston Fitzgerald, Howie MacDonald, Johnnie Wilmot and the late Charlie MacCuspic to whose memory the Baddeck Gathering Ceilidh is dedicated. Howie MacDonald is a well-respected fiddler who has composed dozens of tunes and, although best known as a fiddler, he is a superb pianist whether chording for fiddlers or performing piano solos. Beverly MacLean, from Southside Boularderie, is a Cape Breton fiddler and piano player who has performed regularly in KitchenFest and at the Louisbourg Playhouse as well as internationally in Denmark. Tickets are on sale at the door between 5 and 7pm. Admission includes tea and locally baked oatcakes. Cash only. Reservations recommended.
