About
The Old Miller Trout Farm Guest House is a two-bedroom cottage nestled in a secluded mountain valley at the end of Doyle’s Road, just 2 km (1.2 mi) from the famous Cabot Trail and the Hamlet of Margaree Forks on Cape Breton Island. This location serves as either an excellent place to settle and simply “get lost in the Margarees” or to use as a base for day-tripping the whole of Cape Breton Island! Margaree is central to most island amenities and can serve as a tremendous spot for accessing several area beaches, whale watching tours, deep-sea fishing, kayaking, hiking, golfing or exploring the many historic communities and attractions along the world-famous Cabot Trail.
A scenic 30- to 45-minute drive takes you to the village of Cheticamp where you can experience local Acadian entertainment and cuisine, museums, boutiques and whale watching tours; the village of Baddeck with her wonderful waterfront and breathtaking views of the Bras d’Or Lakes, restaurants, unique shops, the Alexander Graham Bell Museum and Bell Bay Golf Course; and the Municipality of Inverness with artisans and painters, the Inverness County Centre for the Arts and the new Cabot Links Golf Course.
Old Miller is a working trout farm; there is a U-Fish on the property where speckled or rainbow trout may be caught. Catch and keep only, please. No license is required. The Margaree River, itself, is world famous for salmon fishing (fly fishing only in the summer months). Guides are not required but recommended and can be arranged.
The Guest House contains two bedrooms (Queen, Twin, Double Futon; sleeps 6) with two 4-piece baths, satellite television, VCR Player, wireless Internet access, telephone, (free long distance service to Canada/US), full kitchen, barbecue and laundry facilities.
Visa, Debit, PayPal, E-transfer and MasterCard are accepted.
Cancellation Policy: Must cancel 5 days prior to day of arrival for a refund of your deposit or to avoid a credit card charge. An administration fee will be charged.
