Membertou Market & Shell is a one stop for fuel, groceries and a hot supper in the heart of Membertou. Tucked inside the market, Membertou Chicken and Deli has been feeding the community since 2002, and word about it travels well past the Island.
The draw is the fried chicken, sold by the piece or in family combos with fries, gravy and salads. From there the menu runs to deli sandwiches, wraps, flatbread pizzas, fish and Crispy Munchy Wings in hot, medium, mild or honey garlic. The burgers are worth a read on their own, including The Saqmaw (say zah-h’m-ow), named for the Mi’kmaw word for chief and built with Montreal smoked meat, bacon, mozzarella and honey mustard mayo. Breakfast bagels are served all day.
Catering trays go out for gatherings of any size, takeout can be ordered online, and the counter staff will tell you the same thing the sign does. It’s all good.
