Cabot Trail Food Truck Rally FAQ

Autumn on Cape Breton Island means golden hills, crisp air and the kind of coastal beauty that stirs the soul. And this fall, the Cabot Trail Food Truck Rally brings all that flavour to life. Over two days, local chefs and mobile kitchens will line the world-famous Trail, serving everything from seaside classics to creative comfort food. It’s your chance to eat, explore and celebrate the season, one delicious stop at a time.

When is the Cabot Trail Food Truck Rally?

The rally takes place on October 25 and 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

Where does the rally happen?

There are 15 food trucks located at scenic stops all along the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Island, giving you the perfect opportunity to eat and explore while taking in the stunning fall scenery.

How do I enter the Cabot Trail Food Truck Rally Contest?

  1. Download the Cabot Trail Food Truck Rally App.
    1. iPhone – Click Here
    1. Android – Click Here
  2. For every featured Cabot Truck Food Truck Rally food truck, you can scan the QR found on the truck by using the app at the time of purchase. Select SCAN A CODE when prompted to scan the code provided.
  3. Once scanned, your new stamp will appear in the MY PASSPORT section of the app. Every qualifying dish purchase earns a stamp. Collect three stamps to receive your first automatic entry into the Gourmet Getaway Contest. Each additional stamp after the first three earns you extra entries.

What is the contest prize?

The Gourmet Getaway Prize Package includes:

  • Two nights’ accommodation for two at the Markland Resort
  • A dining experience for two at the Markland Resort
  • A $250 Visa gift card for meals and gas
  • All taxes and accommodation levy fees (gratuities not included)

Do I need to bring cash?

Yes. Da Smokey Fish, Grub Love, Lawless Lobster and Dusso G and possibly others, will be cash only for the weekend. Most other trucks accept debit or credit, but since reception along the Cabot Trail can be spotty, it’s always smart to carry extra cash just in case.

Can I buy merchandise at the rally?

Yes! The secret’s out — and it’s friggin’ good! The first-ever Cabot Trail Food Truck Rally hoodie, created with Good Friggin' Company, is as bold as the bites that inspired it. Rock your love for the rally in the brightest, coziest way possible. Hoodies are available at the parking lot of Colaisde na Gàidhlig / The Gaelic College during the rally on October 25 & 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each hoodie is $60 and cash, debit and credit are accepted. These limited edition hoodies come in one colour with limited sizes, so when they’re gone… they’re gone.

What should I know about the weather?

October in Cape Breton can be crisp and cool with occasional rain. Dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes.

Are there activities beyond the food trucks?

Absolutely! Hike to Corney Brook Falls for a refreshing waterfall adventure or challenge yourself on the mountainous Acadian Trail in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The trail offers breathtaking views of the coastline and forests, a perfect way to enjoy some fresh air and build an appetite between bites.

Live events are adding even more flavour to the Cabot Trail Food Truck Rally experience this year. As you travel through St Ann’s Bay and the North Shore you’ll find their 2nd Annual  Halloween Extravaganza featuring fun for the whole family! Or catch this concert at The Barn featuring Howie MacDonald and Beverly MacLean!

On October 25, you can catch Tracy and Michael Cavanaugh performing at Stand & Stuff Your Face in St. Ann’s Bay, followed by The Turnbull Brothers on Sunday the 26th. Throughout the weekend, several food truck locations will feature pop-up performances with local artists. Check out our webpage for even more events across the Island.

Do food trucks sell out?

Yes, some of the most popular trucks are known to sell out early, so plan your route and grab your favourites quickly.

Why should I attend?

The Cabot Trail Food Truck Rally combines food, fun and fall adventures. Explore Cape Breton’s world-famous fall colours, enjoy delicious local cuisine, collect stamps for a chance to win the Gourmet Getaway Prize Package, grab exclusive rally merchandise and make memories with friends and family.
