1. Festival de l'Escaouette - Chéticamp & Area (Jul 30 - Aug 3)

This beloved Acadian festival kicks off the month with a parade, live music, a golf tournament, a kids' festival and a lively gala. It's one of the best ways to experience Acadian culture and community spirit on the Island's western coast.

2. Swim the Canal - St. Peter's & Area, Cape Breton's South Coast (Aug 2)

Take a dip through the historic St. Peters Canal on the South Coast, part of the Nicolas Denys Days celebrations. It's a quirky, community-spirited way to cool off and see one of the Island's oldest waterways up close.

3. Smokey Sessions - Cape Smokey (Aug 2)

Cape Smokey's outdoor concert series returns with Lennie Gallant and The Town Heroes on the mountain stage, gondola and ocean views included. Bring a chair.

4. Festival Acadien Petit de Grat - Isle Madame (Aug 6 - 9)

9. Blueberry Jam - Mabou & Area (Aug 14 - 15)

The 8th annual outdoor concert weekend hits Big Belle Farm on Mabou Ridge, mixing local and Nova Scotia music with the province's wild blueberry harvest. It's 19+, camping is available on site, and the Big Belle Cookout keeps everyone fed all weekend.

10. Cape Breton Comedy Fest - Baddeck & Area (Aug 17 - 19)

Cape Breton's funniest festival returns for its fourth year with three nights of shows, including a CBC Laugh Out Loud live taping at the Inverary Resort in Baddeck, hosted by Ali Hassan and featuring Gavin Crawford alongside Cape Breton's own Nick Beaton and Clifton Cremo.
