Explore the Bras d'Or / Wjinene'n Pitu'Poq

Explore the Bras d’Or/ Wjinene’n Pitu’Poq is a two week long schedule of events on and around the Bras d’Or lake / Pitu’poq that celebrate and highlight this unique ecosystem.

This initiative aims to connect Mi’kmaq and non-indigenous communities, promote stewardship and local ecotourism ventures while collecting scientific data on the health of the lake.

This is a joint initiative by the Collaborative Environmental Planning Initiative, The Bras d’Or Lake Biosphere Reserve Association, Ben Eoin Yacht Club and Marina, Oceans North, Destination Cape Breton and many other community partners including all four counties surrounding the lake.

Events include Covid 19 safe self directed activities such as I Naturalist Bio Blits by ACAP CB and an Eagle Photo contest by the Whycocomagh Waterfront Centre as well as in person community events, following Provincial Covid 19 protocols
