Outlaw Country: Before the Outlaws

It will be a great night out, or a possible Christmas gift as well, since it’s going to happen on Dec. 28th at 7:30 pm! Early Bird tickets will start on October 26th for three days! Boardwalk Productions is proud to be behind Outlaw Country: Before the Outlaws, written, produced and directed by Inverness’s own Rory MacEachern. It thrilled audiences in August and the community and the cast are so happy that Rory wants to mount the production one more time. Before the term Outlaw Country became a movement, a group of fiercely independent songwriters were already reshaping country music from the ground up. Rejecting the polished Nashville sound of the time, these artists wrote songs that were raw, poetic, rebellious, and deeply human. Outlaw Country: Before the Outlaws is a live celebration of the legendary writers and performers who helped spark that revolution. Featuring the music of Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Blaze Foley, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Billy Joe Shaver, Emmylou Harris, Nanci Griffith, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, and Rodney Crowell. The show explores the stories, friendships, and songs that laid the foundation for the outlaw movement. With heartfelt performances and a deep respect for the songwriting craft, this evening brings audiences back to the smoke-filled listening rooms, Texas dance halls, and late-night songwriter circles where these timeless songs were born. Some of Cape Breton’s finest musicians will be on the stage: Rory MacEachern, Peter MacInnis, Jordan Muscsyn, James Ryan, Betsy MacDonald, Trina Collette, Jess Favaro, Jesse Ryan, Barry Fougere, Isabel MacEachern, Neil MacQuarrie, Jesse Fraser, Greg Favaro, Lawrence Cameron, Kyle MacDonald, Urban Breen and Micheal Murdock. Once those are sold, tickets will be $45 in advance and $50 at the door (if available).
