About

An off-the-cuff invitation in a Charlottetown hotel bar, a shared circle in a Canso rink, and a mutual love for questionable jokes… award-winning performers and songwriters Kim Dunn and Terra Spencer are taking their Backroads tour to the mainstage at the Inverness County Centre for the Arts! Following an adventurous run of experimental backwoods shows in churches, homes, and festivals, they’re bringing their newfound chemistry and crackling banter to listening rooms and theatres.
Ask his fellow musicians and fans, and both will tell you that Kim Dunn’s talent is as enviable as it is undeniable. As one of the East Coast’s most respected accompanists and arrangers, Kim has toured internationally for over thirty years with Rita MacNeil, Laura Smith, Heather Rankin, Bruce Guthro and many others. Now in the spotlight, he delivers his own heartfelt songs with soulful tenor vocals, incomparable musicianship, and sly charm.
Terra Spencer has quickly carved her place in the Maritime songwriting ranks, with four albums since 2018. Making the unusual leap from small-town funeral director to one of the busiest musicians on the folk circuit, she’s shared the stage with Ben Caplan, Matt Andersen, and David Francey — who recruited her for his 2024 Juno-winning album The Breath Between. With her butterscotch vocals, deft guitar and piano work, and quick wit, Ron Sexsmith calls her “the real deal.” Join Kim and Terra for a celebration of new friendships, old souls, favourite songs, and kindred spirits.
