About

Cape Breton singer-songwriter Colette Deveaux grew up as many aspiring young musicians from the island do, turning to music as a personal interest and a way to connect to the large, diverse and close-knit music community that has been part of the culture of her homeland for decades. Colette started her musical journey early searching for her sound, learning songs, finding her voice and discovering her ability to craft original lyrics and put them to music. Through her experiences, she learned to collaborate, co-write, play with a band and further strengthen her solo persona. Inspired by memories, past experiences—good and bad, the lives of others, strangers, friends, and family, Colette’s music touches on personal experiences, social issues, and more intimate narratives speaking to life and love. Her playful, engaging, and poignant style was captured on her critically-acclaimed debut album, Honey (2020). Colette is currently working on her second album.
