About

Selkie’s Rest is three (3) Lighthouse themed luxury cottages centrally located in the Village of Baddeck within a short walk of all the amenities the village has to offer.
Each Lighthouse commemorates the memory of Alexander Graham & Mabel Bell and the significant contributions they made to our community.
Our yellow Lighthouse commemorates the first powered airplane flight in Canada, the “Silver Dart” and the contribution made by it’s Pilot “J.A.D. (Douglas) McCurdy.” The upper-level sleeping, and lounging area has wrap around window with a view of Baddeck Bay, a Queen-sized bed with a hand painted headboard that depicts the first flight over Baddeck Bay, smart TV, love seat, table and two (2) chairs, 3-piece washroom and free Wi-Fi. We offer a choice of a baby’s crib or a toddler’s bed with advanced notice.
The main level has a large kitchenette, Queen-sized sofa bed, “McCurdy’s Sea-Chest” for a coffee table, a large smart TV, dining table with four (4) chairs, and a half-bath.
Our blue lighthouse commemorates the Bell’s 55ft yawl “Elsie” that was a wedding gift for their daughter Elsie and her husband Gilbert Grosvenor in 1917. The upper-level sleeping, and lounging area has wrap around window with a view of Baddeck Bay, a Queen-sized bed with a hand painted headboard that depicts the “Elsie” in full-sail, smart TV a small kitchenette, table and two (2) chairs, a 3-piece washroom and free Wi-Fi.
The main level is a garage area for parking of motorcycles, sports car, mountain bikes, or skidoo. It has a ½ bath and a countertop & sink for cleaning your safety equipment.
