About

Explore this looped coastal walk for beautiful water views and a glimpse into 300 years of history.

Enjoy the salty breeze from Louisbourg Harbour and listen to the sounds of lapping waves as you wander this unique landscape. The short, 0.8-kilometer (0.4 mile) trail traces the ruins of an 18th-century French fortification. History buffs will love the chance to explore this archaeological feature up close, untouched after nearly three centuries.

In spring and summer, pack a picnic, watch for swooping shorebirds and capture the picturesque sight of fishing boats returning with their catch. In the winter, grab your snowshoes and keep your eyes peeled for seals bobbing amongst the sea-ice drifting in the harbour.

Parking is available.
