About

The Unplugged Woodshop is a “hand tool only” woodworking school located in Belle Cote. Just off the Cabot Trail, we offer seasonal woodworking classes from July through to November. One day classes or week long courses are available and everyone is welcome, no experience necessary. Students learn traditional cabinet making skills with author and Instructor, Tom Fidgen as they make beautiful and practical woodworking projects by hand.

Owner Tom Fidgen has been teaching hand tool woodworking and cabinetmaking for more than a decade. From Munich to the Yukon, Australia to Jerusalem, Tom has taught thousands of students quite literally all over the world. The original Unplugged Woodshop successfully ran in Toronto, Ontario for the past decade but Tom has recently moved back home to Cape Breton where he continues to offer classes on a seasonal basis from his shop in Belle Cote.

From unique serving trays and hand carved wooden spoons, to traditional joinery techniques using mortise and tenons, dovetails and other forms of hand cut joinery. In our week long courses students will design and build custom boxes. Tom is the author of two, best-selling woodworking books and has welcomed students from all walks of life.

All tools and materials are supplied.
