About
MY SON THE HURRICANE is a multi-horn, multi-drummer, multi-singer brass funk beast from Niagara, Ontario. The 12-piece brass-dance crew has toured worldwide on some of the largest stages across Canada, USA, UK, Scandanavia, Belgium, Mexico, Lithuania, and France. Their 2023 release “Mr. Holland’s Locust” received more than 30 million views online and has seen the band share the stage with the likes of Foo Fighters, I Mother Earth, and Colin James.
Since 2021, SUNSETTO (Cape Breton Island’s Kyle Mischiek) has been meticulously crafting his sound and image, with his catalog now amassing millions of streams. His debut album, “The Sun, The Moon, & The Big Machine” was released in October 2024 and features collaborations with industry heavyweights like Bibi Bourelly, Sinead Harnett, and Tim Suby. After completing a run of 25 Canadian tour dates opening up for SonReal in early 2025, and opening for Down with Webster in 2024, sunsetto continues creating new music for himself and others while promoting his genre-bending debut album.
Makin’ Waves, July 3-31, is presented by Sydney Credit Union and produced by the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. These concerts are made possible by the Government of Nova Scotia, Government of Canada, and festival partners Protocase and Cape Breton Beverages.
