About
The MacDonald House Museum is a 19th century, gothic-style furnished farmhouse overlooking Lake Ainslie on Cape Breton Island. The museum’s exhibit room features crafts, a housing loom and spinning wheel, while the barn displays an assortment of farm machinery and tools. The barn also provides a spectacular setting for concerts held throughout the summer months. Visitors to the museum can also explore a restored one-room schoolhouse (c 1920) to learn what education used to be like in rural Cape Breton
