The Savoy Theatre

To enter the Savoy Theatre is to step back in time. Built in the 1920s, the historic Savoy Theatre is located in heart of downtown Glace Bay and is Cape Breton's premier destination for live theatre and entertainment. Built to the specifications of the famed Victorian show houses, the Savoy Theatre has hosted everything from boxing matches and Vaudeville shows in the early days, to the Rotary shows of the 1960s, to prominent Canadian and Cape Breton talents such as Stompin' Tom Connors, Natalie McMaster, Leonard Cohen and Cape Breton's first lady of song, Rita MacNeil. Fresh off its initial run of the famed musical Les Miserables in May 2013, featuring an all-Cape Breton cast and crew, the Savoy Theatre continues to be the cultural and artistic centerpiece of Cape Breton Island.
