Music Camp on the Canal 2016Date: Fri, Jun 3 2016 - Sun, Jun 5 2016
Music Camp on the Canal celebrates its 5th year in 2016. Starting Friday evening, June 3 through Sunday afternoon, June 5, this is a weekend designed for traditional music players and enthusiasts who want to learn from some outstanding faculty.
Learn technique and repertoire in guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, keyboards, voice, step and square dancing, composition, music reading, and more!
The weekend begins with a reception and jam session to meet your fellow players, an intensive day of workshops on Saturday, a stellar concert featuring your faculty on Saturday night followed by a late night KitchenRackets jam. Another workshop on Sunday morning, then wind up with our Band Lab Showcase in the afternoon. Band Lab is one of the choices during your workshop program where you can form a new band, learn a couple of tunes (with mentorship from some pros), and then perform at the Showcase.
Registration includes lunch and supper on Saturday and lunch on Sunday, from the excellent kitchen at Bras d’Or Lakes Inn. If you can’t attend the full weekend, you can attend individual workshops a la carte.
Plus, take advantage of our on-site luthier and community events: an Artisans Show and Sale, and a Used Instrument Swap and Sale – you can bring your surplus instruments to sell or shop for a new thing of beauty.
