The Festival of Cape Breton Fiddling will take place on Saturday, August 18, and Sunday, August 19, 2018. Events will start with workshops in fiddling, stepdancing, and piano from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A highlight will be an invitation to the public attending and who are reasonably proficient musicians and avid dancers from other regions (any genre/country, folk, Cajun, etc.) to join the workshop and experience efforts to learn the unique stylings and techniques of the Cape Breton Fiddler (These are particularly applicable to the Cape Breton Fiddling tradition-almost exclusively). There will be a concert from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., followed by a square dance. On Sunday, August 19, there will be a “Tune Sharing Session” from 11:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. for all musicians. Following this will be our much anticipated “Gala Concert” from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. All activities will take place in various parts of the grounds at the beautiful Gaelic College.
