Fiddlers, piano players, singers, dancers, and guitar players will congregate on the grounds of the Gaelic College, Colaisde na Gaidhlig, in St. Annâs, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on the weekend of August 20 – 21 to celebrate the 49th annual Festival of Cape Breton Fiddling. The roots and traditions of this unique style of music, which have become known and respected throughout the world, will be proudly displayed and thoroughly enjoyed during this entire weekend.
It was Glendale 1973 when over one hundred fiddlers, of all ages, from all over the world, assembled on the stage to perform under the watchful eye of the late Father John Angus Rankin. Twenty-five years later, in 1998, over two hundred fiddlers graced the stage at the Gaelic College, to play wonderful Cape Breton style fiddle music for thousands of people. Indeed, in 2023, the Association will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in August at the Colaisde na Gaidhlig in fine style with local, national, and international talent.
