Buddy MacMaster Fiddle CampDate: Mon, Oct 10 2016 - Fri, Oct 14 2016
Each October we welcome students from around the world to The Buddy MacMaster Fiddle Camp, a week-long fiddle camp offered at the Celtic Music Interpretive Centre during the week of the Celtic Colours International Festival. The camp runs for 5 days and allows students the chance to study with 2 Cape Breton fiddlers each day, for a total of 10 different instructors over five days, each instructor having their own unique style of Cape Breton fiddle playing.
Classes are aimed at intermediate and advanced players who wish to further their skills and learn the Cape Breton style of playing from some of Cape Breton’s most well respected fiddlers. During lunch break each day, students will enjoy a Ceilidh featuring the two instructors from that day as well as guest musicians. Dance Ceilidhs or other special events, also open to the public, take place each day after classes.
“The Buddy MacMaster Fiddle Camp is unique to Cape Breton Island in that it features the styles of ten different teachers, both from the younger and older generation of fiddlers. The atmosphere is one of natural Cape Breton hospitality, in a focused environment that allows you to absorb the music and the meaning. I highly recommend this camp for those wanting to learn the Cape Breton fiddling style.” ~ Natalie MacMaster
