On any given day, youll find a group of men and women gathered around the tables at Wreck Cove General Store enjoying a cup of coffee and the company of owners Brent Partland and Jenn Rhodes. Located moments before the base of Cape Smokey on the world-famous Cabot Trail, the store is one of few businesses that remains open after the tourist season ends in mid-October. The Wreck Cove General Store is also the only business with direct access from the trails that span across the Cape Breton Highlands. Its the only full-service station in a 30-50km radius, and provides homemade foods (baked goods, sandwiches, chilli/soups); fresh, hot coffee and teas; fuel; snacks and refreshments; first aid and grocery items; clothing; local giftware and more. And have I mentioned its the only sled-friendly destination in the area? Theres that, too. The large parking lot has room for multiple trailers, and a spacious but flat yard provides lots of additional space to park snowmobiles while visitors warm up, grab a snack or their caffeine fix. And while the store is a wonderful destination today, theres more to come. Owners Brent and Jenn look forward to an expansion in the upcoming years to provide all-season cabins for diehard winter sport fans, a greater selection of homemade meals as well as a large store expansion to house all the hungry customers. Youll soon be able to pick up much-needed and sometimes forgotten! Outdoor gear for hunting, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, fishing and camping. Its a cliché but its true: The Wreck Cove General Store is a one-stop shop for all your winter outing needs. You can see business hours, daily specials and more by visiting the Facebook page. See you on the trails!
