Cape Breton Sailing Charters- Sail the Ocean and the Inland Sea

PO Box 178 St. Peter’s

Sail Where the Ocean Meets the Inland Sea

The magical Bras d’Or Lake is connected to the Atlantic Ocean by a historic tidal lock canal at St. Peter’s, Cape Breton: Where the Ocean Meets the Inland Sea.

This 2-day/2-night sailing adventure provides you with an opportunity to sail on both these bodies of water. Meet your boat and captain on arrival evening at St. Peter’s Lions Marina and spend the night aboard with your party. Next morning, set sail on to the Bras d’Or Lake via island-studded St. Peter’s Inlet. Anchor for a swim and lunch; head out on the big lake for some open water sailing. Return to Lions Marina and stay onboard the yacht overnight. Day 2: Navigate through the canal and tidal lock for a sail on the Atlantic Ocean, with close views of Isle Madame and coastal south-west Cape Breton; returning to St. Peter’s at afternoon’s end.

Dates: June 18, 2021 – October 17, 2021

This is a private charter providing 2 days of sailing and two nights of accommodation for up to 4 people. Your captain and first mate are aboard during the sailing days, leaving your party in privacy overnight. You and your guests are encouraged to steer the boat and handle the sails with advice and instruction from the captain, or just kick back and relax. You will have the boat to yourselves overnight, dockside at the well-equipped and superbly managed Lions Marina.

Your yacht for this adventure is called No Rush II. She is a Niagara 35 sailboat equipped for bluewater cruising in comfort, safety, and style. Her accommodations include a galley (kitchen with basic gear including cookware, tableware, fridge/freezer), private head (toilet and sink in private cabin), and four sleeping berths: 1 generous double and 2 singles. One of the ‘singles’ is quite large and will accommodate 2 smaller people (so with children this could accommodate a family of 5). The boat is stocked with cold drinks (waters, sodas, juices, etc.) for our sailing days.

Amenities at the marina for sailors include individual showers and restrooms, a full kitchen, a relaxation lounge with cable TV, wi-fi on-site and on the boat, BBQs, secure parking, and a pleasant waterfront ambiance. Covid-19 regulations this year control group sizes, etc. in gatherings at the marina. Otherwise, you will be part of the resident and transient sailors’ community while you are here. The marina is just a few minutes from the village center by foot or car. You can shop or dine in town for breakfast and supper, or BBQ at the marina, with the yacht as your cottage. Lunches are catered onboard for sailing days.

Charter fee of $2,000. provides you with the yacht, captain and mate for 2 days of sailing; equipped with bedding, towels and basic amenities (coffee, tea and juice, ice, etc.) as you would find in any good hotel room, for two nights’ accommodation aboard and full use of the marina guest facilities; for your party of 4. Food is not included in this price. We provide a menu in advance for ordering on-board picnic lunches; the village offers a variety of eat-in and take-out restaurants, grocery/pharmacy/ hardware/gift/liquor/wine/beer stores, and more, all conveniently located nearby the marina.
